It is the most expensive luxury train in the World. The service was started in March 2010. The Maharajas’ Express is a luxury train for tourists, owned and operated by IRCTC. The train has been furnished with recent facilities to offer satisfactory onboard experiences to the visitor, such as live television, WiFi, attached bathroom, dining cars, bar, lounge and souvenir shop. Bigger cabins have roll-top baths and large sitting rooms too.

14 carts with 43 singular cabins give seating and sleeping potential for 88 guests. This royal rail service has 20 Deluxe Cabins, 18 Junior Suites, 4 Suites and a Presidential Suite giving 5-star equivalent comfort. Both the Suites and the Presidential suite have a bathtub in the restroom, an extension to the bath cubicle.

It operates on 7 courses comprising more than 12 stops across North-West, South and Central India, mainly focused on Rajasthan between the months of October and April.

2. Palace on Wheels

The Palace on Wheels began on 26 January 1982. The idea of the Palace on Wheels was acquired from the royal background of the carriages, which were the personal railway carriages of the past rulers of the princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India.

There are 23 carriages on the train. 104 sightseers can commute by this train. Each coach is nicknamed after ancient Rajput states like Dholpur, Dungargarh, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Kota, Sirohi and Udaipur. From Delhi and Udaipur to Bharatpur and Agra, this train goes to a lot of destinations.

The train has a 7 Nights / 8 Days course –

Day 1 – New Delhi

Day 2 – Jaipur

Day 3 – Sawai Madhopur and Chittaurgarh

Day 4 – Udaipur

Day 5 – Jaisalmer

Day 6 – Jodhpur
